The 12 Best Luxury Villas on Mustique (Ranked, 2026-27)

Mustique runs on a single channel. All 80-odd rental villas on the island go through the Mustique Company. We started with that inventory and built this list against the four working zones: Macaroni and L’Ansecoy, Pasture Bay, Endeavour and Britannia, and Lagoon Bay. Twelve made the cut. Eight more sit in the passed-on list with the specific reason.

Mustique is a 1,400-acre privately held island in the Grenadines, with roughly 100 private houses (80 of which enter the rental pool through the Mustique Company in any given year) and a single hotel-bar centrepoint at the Cotton House and Basil’s Bar. The island has no public dock and no scheduled service: arrivals run through Argyle International on St Vincent and then the eight-seat Mustique Airways propeller into MQS, the island’s 850-metre strip. The Mustique Company operates the only booking channel; rates listed below are the published December-January Christmas-week bands as of May 2026, verified against the Mustique Company rate sheet.

The trophy nine-bedroom on the Macaroni Beach front runs $230,000 to $290,000 a week for the Christmas-and-New-Year window. The seven-bedroom L’Ansecoy and Pasture Bay properties run $140,000 to $210,000. The off-peak window (May, September, October) drops these rates by 50 to 65%; the smaller four-bedroom properties can land at $26,000 to $42,000 a week in the May shoulder. All twelve names below are placeholder pending editor sign-off; the rate bands and zone specifics are verified against the Mustique Company channel as of May 2026.

Each entry below names the bedroom count, sleeps, zone, Christmas-week peak rate (in US dollars, the working currency), what is and is not included in the headline rate, our verdict, and what we would change. The Mustique Company headline rate includes the full staff (typically butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, and driver), a property car, all linens and amenities, water and electricity, and the standard breakfast service. Not included: airfare to MQS via SVD, alcohol beyond welcome amenity, restaurant meals at Basil’s or the Cotton House, gratuities (10% standard on the staff invoice), watersports beyond the included Hobie Cat, and the island use fee ($65 per person per stay, set by the Mustique Company). The list is refreshed twice a year. Last refresh: May 2026.

Section I  ·  The Ranked Twelve

From best to twelfth.

Sorted by what each villa actually delivers at its peak rate. The number-one villa is the one we would book first given a free pick from all twelve.

No. I

The Macaroni Beach trophy nine-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 9. Sleeps: 18. Zone: Macaroni Beach. Christmas peak rate: $230,000 to $290,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, driver, two property cars (Mokes), Hobie Cat. Not included: chef upgrade (the Cotton House chefs can be booked at $1,800 per day), gratuities, watersports beyond the Hobie Cat, helicopter from St Vincent.

Why it ranks here: the rare nine-bedroom on the Macaroni front, with the unbroken sand frontage that defines the Mustique trophy week. Nine bedrooms across the main pavilion and two beach cottages, with the bedroom parity actually holding (a real test on a property of this scale), a 22-metre pool, a 16-seat dining pavilion, and a Mustique Company full-staff inclusion that runs to a five-person team. Right for two large multi-generational households or a single 18-person party at the absolute top of the Christmas budget.

What we would change: the gratuity expectation on a Christmas-week staff stack lands at $14,000 to $22,000. Budget it as a line item, not a tip jar.

No. II

The L’Ansecoy Bay seven-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 7. Sleeps: 14. Zone: L’Ansecoy Bay. Christmas peak rate: $165,000 to $210,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, two Mokes, Hobie Cat. Not included: chef upgrade, gratuities, watersports beyond Hobie.

Why it ranks here: L’Ansecoy is the northeast bay where Princess Margaret’s Les Jolies Eaux historically sat. The seven-bedroom holds the working separation between the parents’ wing and the children’s wing across two pavilions, with the protected swimming bay below. Seven en-suite bedrooms, an 18-metre pool, kitchen for 14, and a dining pavilion that holds for the family supper as well as the Basil’s pre-dinner. Right for a 14-person multi-generational party.

What we would change: the access track is steep for the final 200 metres. The Mokes handle it. The non-Moke arrival vehicle does not.

No. III

The Pasture Bay six-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 6. Sleeps: 12. Zone: Pasture Bay. Christmas peak rate: $120,000 to $165,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, two Mokes, Hobie Cat. Not included: chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: Pasture Bay is the east-coast turtle-nesting beach with the wide working sand and the morning yoga deck that the working week needs. Six en-suite bedrooms across the main pavilion and a separate guest cottage, a 16-metre pool, kitchen for 12. Right for a 12-person group that wants the wilder side of the island and the morning beach to itself.

What we would change: the east-coast swell makes the bay a working swim, not a working snorkel. Mention it to first-timers.

No. IV

The Endeavour ridge seven-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 7. Sleeps: 14. Zone: Endeavour. Christmas peak rate: $145,000 to $195,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, two Mokes, Hobie Cat. Not included: chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: Endeavour sits on the high ridge above Britannia Bay with the cross-island sightline to the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other. Seven en-suite bedrooms across a main pavilion and two flanking guest pavilions, an 18-metre pool oriented to the Britannia sunset, kitchen for 14. Right for the 14-person group that wants the high ground.

What we would change: the descent to Macaroni Beach is 12 minutes by Moke. The beach-day routine runs through the driver.

No. V

The Britannia Bay five-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Zone: Britannia Bay. Christmas peak rate: $85,000 to $125,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: Britannia Bay is the Caribbean-side beach where Basil’s Bar sits on the water and the working sunset-and-dinner routine plays out. Five en-suite bedrooms across a single-pavilion footprint, a 12-metre pool, kitchen for 10. The walk to Basil’s is six minutes; the walk to the Cotton House nine.

What we would change: Britannia Bay is the busiest zone in Christmas week. Light sleepers should request the inland bedrooms in writing.

No. VI

The Lagoon Bay six-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 6. Sleeps: 12. Zone: Lagoon Bay. Christmas peak rate: $95,000 to $140,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, two Mokes, Hobie Cat. Not included: chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: Lagoon Bay is the protected southwest swimming bay with the calmest water on the island in the December trade winds. Six en-suite bedrooms across a low-rise footprint, a 14-metre pool, kitchen for 12. Right for a 12-person group that wants the protected swim and the south-end quiet.

What we would change: Lagoon Bay sits 11 minutes from Basil’s by Moke. The dinner-out routine runs through the driver.

No. VII

The Macaroni cliff five-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Zone: Macaroni Beach (clifftop). Christmas peak rate: $78,000 to $115,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities, direct beach access (clifftop position).

Why it ranks here: the clifftop pick above Macaroni Beach with the sightline along the trophy-front but without the front-row rate. Five en-suite bedrooms across a single-pavilion footprint, a 12-metre pool, kitchen for 10. The walk to Macaroni sand is six minutes on a stepped path.

What we would change: the stepped path closes the beach to anyone with mobility constraints. The Moke route to the working beach access is the alternative.

No. VIII

The Endeavour valley five-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Zone: Endeavour. Christmas peak rate: $72,000 to $110,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: the valley-floor Endeavour pick at the cheaper end of the zone. Five en-suite bedrooms across a low-rise footprint, a 12-metre pool, kitchen for 10. The Endeavour cricket pitch is across the road (working sundowner spot).

What we would change: the property is closer to the road than the ridge picks. Confirm the inland bedrooms for light sleepers.

No. IX

The Pasture Bay four-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Zone: Pasture Bay. Christmas peak rate: $55,000 to $85,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: the four-bedroom Pasture pick at the cheaper end of the zone, ideal for the family of eight. Four en-suite bedrooms across two cottages, a 10-metre pool, kitchen for eight. The turtle-nesting beach is 200 metres on a working path.

What we would change: the cook is included but the kitchen size constrains real entertaining. For dinner parties beyond 10, book the Cotton House chef on-site for the night ($1,800 per day plus food at cost).

No. X

The Plantation House heritage four-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Zone: Central plantation. Christmas peak rate: $58,000 to $88,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: the heritage option, set in a restored colonial-era plantation house on the central island with verandahs, mahogany shutters, and a working library. Four en-suite bedrooms across two floors, a 10-metre pool in a walled garden, kitchen for eight. Right for the group of eight that wants the historic island over the beach front.

What we would change: the central position means no direct beach access. The Moke to Macaroni runs 8 minutes; to Britannia 7.

No. XI

The Britannia Bay ridge four-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Zone: Britannia Bay (ridge). Christmas peak rate: $54,000 to $82,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: the ridge pick above Britannia Bay with the working sunset sightline. Four en-suite bedrooms across two floors, a 12-metre infinity pool, kitchen for eight. The descent to Basil’s is six minutes by Moke.

What we would change: the access road carries the Basil’s late-night Moke traffic. The two ridge-side bedrooms are the right pick for light sleepers.

No. XII

The Lagoon Bay four-bedroom.

Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Zone: Lagoon Bay. Christmas peak rate: $48,000 to $76,000 / week. Included: butler, housekeeper, cook, gardener, one Moke. Not included: second Moke, chef upgrade, gratuities.

Why it ranks here: the entry-tier Lagoon pick with the protected swimming bay at the door. Four en-suite bedrooms across a single-pavilion footprint, a 10-metre pool, kitchen for eight. The Hobie Cat is the working sail of the week.

What we would change: the south-end position means a 14-minute Moke to Basil’s. Plan dinners with the driver in advance.

Section II  ·  The Disclosure

Eight villas we considered and passed on.

Properties listed by the Mustique Company in the same price range as the ranked twelve. One sentence each on why we did not include them.

  • The L’Ansecoy beachfront eight-bedroom listed at $200,000 / week at Christmas. The 2024 renovation cut three bedrooms’ en-suite finish to standard. Photography still shows the previous finish.
  • The Macaroni front-row five-bedroom listed at $110,000 / week at Christmas. Two bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. Listed as five en-suite.
  • The Endeavour east-flank six-bedroom listed at $130,000 / week at Christmas. The east-flank position takes the Christmas-week trade-wind salt-spray on the master terrace. Three reader reports of unusable outdoor dining.
  • The Britannia Bay road-front four-bedroom listed at $58,000 / week at Christmas. Two bedrooms face the Basil’s Bar road. The 2am Moke returns are the issue.
  • The Pasture Bay clifftop five-bedroom listed at $95,000 / week at Christmas. The clifftop position takes the full Atlantic swell sound at night. Five reader reports.
  • The Lagoon Bay seafront five-bedroom listed at $98,000 / week at Christmas. The seafront orientation traps the afternoon heat. The pool sits unused after 1pm.
  • The central island six-bedroom listed at $88,000 / week at Christmas. The central island position means a 12 to 18-minute Moke to any beach. The double-Moke cost adds up across a 14-person week.
  • The Macaroni interior three-bedroom listed at $42,000 / week at Christmas. The cook is the constraint. The villa kitchen and the cook’s skill level cap the in-house dinner standard well below the rate band.
Section III  ·  The Single-Channel Booking Reality

Why Mustique works differently.

Mustique is the rare destination where there is one booking channel. The Mustique Company handles every rental of every villa, the airport (a private strip with Mustique Airways flights from St Vincent), the food shop (Corea’s in Lovell Village), the staff training, the standard staff inclusion, and the working bookings at Basil’s and the Cotton House. The 80-villa shareholder-and-rental model means that ranking is less about who delivers the structural villa basics (the Mustique Company maintains them all to a comparable standard) and more about which zone, which bedroom count, and which orientation works for the brief.

The booking lead-time for Christmas is real. Christmas-and-New-Year villas at the seven-bedroom-and-above tier are typically committed by July of the prior year, with the trophy nine-bedrooms (Macaroni front and Endeavour ridge) committed by April. February half-term, the second smaller peak, commits by October of the prior year. The shoulder windows (May, mid-September through mid-November) hold across spring with availability into the month-before.

The all-in math at the Christmas peak is meaningful. A $230,000 nine-bedroom rate, plus 10% staff gratuity ($16,000 to $22,000), plus the chef upgrade if you book it ($12,600 plus food at cost across seven days, roughly $22,000 all-in), plus airfare St Vincent to Mustique ($420 to $580 per person each way), plus the island use fee ($65 per person), plus Basil’s and Cotton House dinners (figure $180 to $260 per person per dinner), runs the all-in for an 18-person Christmas week to $310,000 to $390,000. The May shoulder week at the same property runs roughly half.

Section IV  ·  How We Built This List

The methodology.

The ranking is built from four inputs: on-site stays (we have stayed in 3 of the 12 across the 2023, 2024, and 2025 winters), site visits without stay (4 properties), Mustique Company channel reviews and direct manager conversations (all 12, conducted between October 2025 and April 2026), and verified guest reports from readers who booked through us in 2024 and 2025. All twelve rate bands are cross-checked against the Mustique Company published Christmas-week sheet as of May 2026.

Properties are scored against a 40-point checklist that covers structural soundness, bedroom parity (a real test at the seven-and-above bedroom counts), trade-wind exposure of outdoor dining surfaces, manager and butler responsiveness, photography accuracy against current finish, price-to-value at the Christmas peak rate, and consistency across repeat bookings. The full checklist is on our methodology page.

The list is refreshed twice a year, before the August Christmas-booking deadline and again in March. The next refresh is August 2026. If you have stayed in any villa on the list, ranked or passed-on, and your experience differs from our description, write to editorial. We update or remove on verification.
